Severe Weather Watches
The Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center issues tornado and thunderstorm watches when conditions are favorable for storm development. This helps alert the general public that hazardous weather is possible. The weather forecast offices in the affected areas are also notified, and it is ultimately up to them to issue any warnings as storms come through.
