...HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS WITH POSSIBLE THUNDERSTORMS WEDNESDAY
THROUGH SUNDAY...

HIGH PRESSURE BUILDING ALOFT ALONG WITH WEAK ONSHORE FLOW WILL
BRING AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF HOT WEATHER TO SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA.
WARMING STARTED TODAY AND WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THURSDAY BEFORE
LEVELING OFF FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. THE HOTTEST DAYS ARE EXPECTED
TO THURSDAY AND FRIDAY...WHEN HIGH TEMPERATURES ACROSS MUCH OF
THE AREA AWAY FROM THE COAST WILL RANGE FROM 95 TO 103 DEGREES.
HUMIDITY WILL ALSO INCREASE WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY...WHICH WILL
MAKE THE AIR FEEL HOTTER THAN MEASURED. THE RESULTANT HEAT INDEX
VALUES WILL APPROACH EXCESSIVE HEAT CRITERIA...CREATING DANGEROUS
CONDITIONS FOR THOSE AT RISK OF HEAT-RELATED ILLNESS. THIS HEAT
MAY IMPACT PARTICIPANTS AND SPECTATORS FOR THE SPECIAL OLYMPIC
WORLD GAMES...ESPECIALLY IN VALLEY VENUES.

THE ADDITIONAL HUMIDITY CAUSED BY MOIST SOUTHEAST FLOW WILL ALSO
BRING A POSSIBILITY OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO THE
REGION WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY. THUNDERSTORMS ARE MOST
LIKELY IN THE MOUNTAINS AND INTERIOR VALLEYS. HOWEVER...THERE IS
A CHANCE THAT SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS COULD DRIFT INTO SOME
COASTAL AREAS AND VALLEY AREAS CLOSE TO THE COAST THURSDAY INTO
THURSDAY NIGHT. ON WEDNESDAY...THE RISK OF FLOODING WILL BE
MINIMAL BUT DRY LIGHTNING WILL BE A CONCERN. BY WEDNESDAY NIGHT
AND THURSDAY...DEEP MOISTURE AND VERY WEAK WINDS ALOFT WILL POSE
A HEIGHTENED RISK OF FLASH FLOODING...AND THAT THREAT COULD
CONTINUE THROUGH FRIDAY. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MAY BE NEEDED FOR
MOUNTAINS AND INTERIOR VALLEYS DURING THIS TIME.
