...DAMAGING HIGH SURF...VERY STRONG RIP CURRENTS...AND MINOR
COASTAL FLOODING THROUGH FRIDAY...

.LARGE SWELLS FROM TROPICAL STORM MARIE WILL CONTINUE TO GENERATE
HIGH SURF ALONG SOUTH FACING BEACHES THROUGH FRIDAY. SURF WILL
SLOWLY DIMINISH THURSDAY AND FRIDAY. THE LARGEST SURF WILL OCCUR
ACROSS SOUTH FACING BEACHES OF VENTURA AND LOS ANGELES...WITH SETS
BETWEEN 10 AND 15 FEET AND EVEN ISOLATED SETS TO 20 FEET LATE THIS
EVENING. SURF THIS LARGE WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE
STRUCTURAL DAMAGE AND SIGNIFICANT BEACH EROSION. LOW LYING AREAS
MAY ALSO EXPERIENCE SOME MINOR COASTAL FLOODING NEAR TIMES OF HIGH
TIDE. IN ADDITION...VERY STRONG RIP CURRENTS AND LONG SHORE
CURRENTS WILL LIKELY CREATE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND LIFE
THREATENING CONDITIONS FOR ANYONE.

ALTHOUGH VENTURA AND LOS ANGELES COUNTIES WILL EXPERIENCE THE
WORST CONDITIONS...THE SOUTHEAST DIRECTION OF THE SWELL ENERGY
WILL ALSO BRING HIGH SURF CONDITIONS AND DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS
TO THE SOUTHEAST PORTION OF SANTA BARBARA COUNTY. NORTH OF POINT
CONCEPTION...THE SURF WILL NOT BE AS LARGE...BUT ELEVATED SURF
AND DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS ARE LIKELY ACROSS THESE AREAS ALSO.

BETWEEN 10 TO 15 FEET AND ISOLATED SETS TO 20 FEET WILL OCCUR
LATE THIS EVENING...THEN GRADUALLY SUBSIDE THROUGH FRIDAY. THE
HIGHEST SURF WILL LIKELY ON SOUTH AND SOUTHEAST FACING BEACHES

* COASTAL FLOODING...MINOR COASTAL FLOODING WILL BE POSSIBLE
ACROSS LOW LYING AREAS NEAR SOUTH AND SOUTHEAST FACING BEACHES
THROUGH FRIDAY...ESPECIALLY NEAR TIMES OF HIGH TIDE.

* TIDES...THE NEXT HIGH TIDE WILL BE NEAR 5 FEET AROUND 11 PM
PDT THIS EVENING.

* LOCATIONS...IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY...THE HIGHEST SURF WILL

* IMPACTS...THIS POWERFUL SURF EVENT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO
PRODUCE STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO PIERS AND BEACH SIDE PROPERTY AS
WELL AS SIGNIFICANT BEACH EROSION. THE POWERFUL SURF WITH VERY
STRONG RIP CURRENTS AND LONG SHORE CURRENTS WILL CREATE
EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SWIMMING AND SURFING CONDITIONS...
POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING. SNEAKER WAVES CAN BRING
UNEXPECTEDLY LARGE WAVES ACROSS ROCKS AND JETTIES NEAR THE
WATERS EDGE...AND SUDDENLY INUNDATE BEACHES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

EMERGENCY AND MARINE INTERESTS SHOULD BEGIN TO TAKE NECESSARY
PRECAUTIONS TO PREPARE FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF A DAMAGING SURF
EVENT FOR SOUTH AND SOUTHEAST FACING BEACHES.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE IN THE WATER...STAY ON THE SHORE. STAY
OFF ROCKS AND JETTIES AND AWAY FROM THE WATERS EDGE TO AVOID
BEING SWEPT AWAY BY SNEAKER WAVES. NEVER TURN YOUR BACK TO THE
OCEAN.

REMEMBER...IF CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT...SWIM PARALLEL TO SHORE
UNTIL YOU ARE FREE OF THE POWERFUL CURRENT.
