Now...Gusty north winds will spread down through the owens valley and death valley national park late this afternoon and early evening behind a passing cold front. Strong wind gusts up to 45 mph can be expected for an hour or two which will create areas of blowing dust near favored areas such as dry lake beds. Wind speeds will generally settle between 20 and 30 mph and persist from the north overnight.
