Another Pattern Switch Likely to Bring Cooler Weather
So far in April, the weather in metro Atlanta has been warm, and largely dry. The average temperature here in Lawrenceville to date is 66 degrees, almost 5.5 degrees warmer than normal. It’s been dry as well, with only 2.12 inches of rain recorded, compared to a normal of about 3 inches.
The dry weather and low humidity have let temperatures soar. Now, it looks like we’re going to settle into a more normal pattern. After likely thunderstorms on Tuesday night and early Wednesday, highs will drop to around 70 degrees until the weekend, when there is another chance of rain. We’ll still be below normal to near normal for the first week of May.
Long range forecasts through May 8th call for cooler than normal temperatures for Georgia, and normal precipitation. Taking an even longer range view, for May, expect normal temperatures and precipitation, and for the early summer, a warmer than normal trend, with average rainfall expected.
