Possible Record Breaking Temperatures This Week
A persistent high pressure system centered over the Southeast US continues to bring warm weather to North Georgia, and is expected to do so for the next two weeks.
This week in partifcular we could see broken records, with high temperatures forecast near 80 degrees through Friday. Here are some records for this week
November 7 - 77 degrees set in 1888
November 8 - 83 degrees set in 1986
November 9 - 79 degrees set in 1994
November 10 - 82 degrees set in 1890
(All records are recorded at Atlanta Hartsfield Airport)
Meanwhile, the chances for rain don’t look very good, either. Since the first of September, the only significant rainfall we’ve seen was during the passage of Tropical Storm Tammy on October 6th and 7th. At least here, there’s been only .04 inches of rain in the last month — less rain than we had in September. At the Atlanta airport, less than 1/4 inch has fallen.
Again, looking at long-range forecasts, there isn’t much hope for rain over the next two weeks. Above normal temperatures and below normal rainfall is in the long range forecast through November 20th.
