Rain Midweek, then Cooler

I hope everyone got out and enjoyed the near perfect weather this weekend. This winter has been a wild ride, with warm weather one day, and cold the next. And, I’m afraid that winter isn’t over yet, as you’ll see in a minute.

Before I take a look at what’s coming up, here are links to videos of two bad TV weathermen, one in Athens, Ohio, and the other in Charlotte, NC. They’re good for a laugh. Thanks to Foot’s Forecast for pointing them out. (And, by the way, Foot’s Forecast is a very well written look at the upcoming weather in the mid-Atlantic area. Worth checking out if you want to learn about the meteorology behind the forecasts).

Right now, Atlanta is on the favorable side of a low between a high pressure system off of the Atlantic coast, and a cold front positioned from Kansas to Minnesota. That front will be making its presence known here, as it clouds up tomorrow, and brings the possibility of rain through Wednesday, when it passes through. There is a small chance of thunderstorms as the front crosses. Then, we cool down for the latter part of the week, with highs around 50. By next weekend, our normal high should be around 55.

Valentine’s week remains on the cool side, with no major precipitation expected until the weekend of the 19th.
