Not as Warm as Predicted

Temperatures in North Georgia didn’t get up to predicted highs today, although, just to our south and west, they did reach 60. The culprit? A slow moving warm front, shown in red below, that stalled out just over Atlanta.

As you can see, at about 1 PM the front curled around the Atlanta area. The light blue numbers represent temperatures.
Here are some current temperatures, as of 7PM:
Lawrenceville - 48
Gainesville - 47
Chamblee - 51
Athens - 50
Atlanta - 54
LaGrange - 54
Rome - 55
Peachtree City - 56
Columbus - 64
Macon - 63

The weather service has a nice animated map that shows the progress of fronts across the South. Keep in mind that it shows the weather over the last three days, so unless you’re looking at it before February 16th, you won’t see this exact pattern, and that you probably need a broadband connection, unless you want to wait 15 or 20 minutes to download everything.
