US: Three Storms at Once?
The Seattle Times is reporting on the possibility of three storms striking the United States this weekend, from the northwest, the southwest, and the south. According to the article, a cold air blast will hit the Pacific northwest, while rain will continue to plague Southern California. Meanwhile, warm, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico will contribute to rain and possible flooding in the Ohio Valley, already suffering from snow melt from the Christmas storms.
I looked around the National Weather Service to see what I could find, and in my view, the situation doesn’t look quite as drastic as the Times’s article makes it out to be. Here is a graphic of expected precipitation for Saturday morning:

As you can see, it looks like a great deal of precipitation for California, and a reasonable chance of rain in Tennessee and Louisiana. The predicted rain chances later on in the weekend go down as time passes.
Here in Lawrenceville, we’ll see slightly lower temperatures and a chance of rain for the next day or so as the front that has caused all the bad weather further north finally breaks through to Georgia. After that, look for continued warm weather, and lower than normal precipitation from the 13th through the 19th.
