Colder Weather May Return By Next Weekend

It’s starting to look like the beginning of the end for the springlike weather we’ve been having in North Georgia so far this year. While the temperatures will continue to stay warm next week, by next Friday, the high temperature will be near 50 degrees.

The National Weather service is predicting a return to near normal temperature and precipitation in Georgia for the period between January 15th and January 21st. For next week, they predict continued warm weather, and above average chances of rain, particularly in the northern part of the state.

The change in the weather is being caused by a breakdown in the upper air pattern that has held the cold weather north of the Ohio Valley for the past two weeks.

For the next few days, though, get out and enjoy it. After rain overnight Friday night, a new high pressure system will begin to build, and we will see near record temperatures by Sunday afternoon. Pleasant weather continues through Tuesday, and then an increasing chance of rain through Thursday.
